The St. Brigid School Drama Club became apart of our tradition in 2014, with our production of The Big Bad Musical. The show featured a wonderful cast of students in grades 4-8. Eighth grader Abbey as the Judge, called up a jury of audience members, which then lead to our fairy tale cast members playing up their antics in the crowd. It was a hit. The following year with our production of Willy Wonka Jr., we began featuring teachers in our shows. The crowd went wild for our principal and teachers as the grandparents!
In 2016, we began our wonderful tradition of featuring our entire student body in the show for our production of The Lion King jr. During the 2016-2017 school year, our student body grew significantly with our merger with St. Augustine and St. Mary Schools. We happily became the St. Brigid-St. Augustine Partnership School Drama Club as we put together our largest production to date- Shrek Jr. We had three performances and two or three of most characters. The show went on despite a gym fire and the loss of our stage lighting system. Teachers played various roles and the show's theme really spoke to what we had become as a school that year. "We are different and united. We are us and we are you. This is our story..." (This is Our Story, Finale). The St. Brigid-St. Augustine Drama Club has, since Shrek, put on a production of Alice in Wonderland Jr and The Wizard of Oz, Young Performers Edition. Sadly, our final production of Mary Poppins Jr, staring 8th grade student Kyra was not performed due to Covid-19. Students and our new director, Ms. Perry did an amazing job at rehearsals. |
